Putney & Wood were appointed to deliver the external stone façade and internal stone packages at 25 Hanover Square, a high-quality commercial refurbishment located in the heart of Mayfair.
The project involved the comprehensive redevelopment of an existing seven-storey building, retaining much of the original structure while reworking the façade to enhance its relationship with the historic Hanover Square and surrounding conservation area.
Our scope comprised the supply and installation of Portland Grove Whitbed and Moorcroft limestone to the new façade, alongside internal stone flooring and wall linings. The façade design combines traditional Portland stone with contemporary elements, including steel-framed glazing, requiring careful coordination to achieve a cohesive architectural finish.
Putney & Wood undertook full design, manufacture, and installation of the stonework package, producing detailed fabrication drawings and bespoke fixing solutions integrated with the building structure and façade build-up. The works formed part of a wider façade strategy incorporating high-performance glazing and modern construction techniques.
A key aspect of the project was the integration of new materials with retained structure, requiring precise setting-out, coordination with adjacent trades, and careful management of interfaces across the façade and internal finishes.
Delivered in collaboration with Mace and Basha Franklin, the project was completed over an 9-month programme, providing approximately 24,000 sq ft of premium workspace designed to meet modern occupier requirements while respecting the architectural character of Mayfair.
Completed in April 2026, the scheme delivers a refined and durable façade alongside high-quality internal finishes, successfully combining contemporary design with traditional materials in a sensitive historic setting.
