Backlit Onyx feature wall, internal travertine flooring and ceramic floor and wall tiling
Situated close to Liverpool Street station in the City of London, the ‘green refurbishment’ of 199 Bishopsgate is set to become an example of best practice for high spec office refurbishment projects.
John Robertson Architects (JRA) designed numerous improvements to upgrade the office space and significantly improve the building’s thermal performance. The building now provides 146,000 sq ft of Grade A office space and was awarded a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
JRA specified a dramatic backlit Onyx wall for the reception as part of the scheme which was undertaken by fit out specialists Como. Following a competitive tender process, Como awarded the stone package, which included the Onyx feature wall and travertine flooring for the reception and lift lobbies, to Putney & Wood.
Putney & Wood’s in-house design team worked closely with JRA, the lighting panel supplier and the Italian Onyx supplier to create the feature wall in the image of the architect’s vision.
Commenting on Putney & Wood’s performance, Steve Gibson of Como said, ”9.25 is the aggregate score drawn from all the construction disciplines [on the project], Putney & Wood were individually scored at 9.5. Well done on delivering an outstanding product on what was a particularly difficult project, Good work! I look forward to working with you on our future projects.”
